Job Description: Rehabilitation Director
Position Overview:
The Rehabilitation Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the rehabilitation department within a healthcare facility. The director will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of physical therapy services to patients, while adhering to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the rehabilitation department in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Direct and supervise the activities of the rehabilitation staff, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to promote teamwork and professional growth.
2. Operational Management:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs, services, and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including patient confidentiality, safety standards, and documentation standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline workflows and enhance the quality and efficiency of rehabilitation services.
- Manage the department's budget, including resource allocation and cost control measures.
3. Staff Development:
- Recruit, train, and retain a qualified and diverse team of rehabilitation professionals.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development and training.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, staying abreast of industry developments and best practices in rehabilitation.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as nursing, social services, and medical staff, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring their understanding of treatment plans and progress.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including community organizations, professional associations, and referral sources.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Current and valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a rehabilitation department or similar setting.
- In-depth knowledge of physical therapy principles, practices, and techniques.
- Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and rehabilitation software.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
